Probiotics
B. animalis ssp. lactis, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus
Live bacteria from 3 species, about 1 billion CFU on the label. Dog trials of probiotic strains have measured diarrhoea, stool quality and gut bacteria.
Results differ from strain to strain.
Probiotic research tests named strains, and strains of the same species can act differently. 1 strain of B. animalis (AHC7) shortened sudden diarrhoea from 6.6 to 3.9 days in 31 dogs, at 20 billion CFU a day. A 2024 review of 6 trials found no clinically meaningful effect on diarrhoea.
